Just what I want - 40 year old dry-rotted cross-ply tires. NP.

its hard to find a good steel body these days at a decent price.

in THESE parts, that 4 speed goes for about $1k by itself. that big block depending on what has been done, could be worth the 2500 that he claims the 10 bolt and camaro front clip are worth about 500. and the tires and wheels that he is so proud of, can probly get a similar pair for just over 1000 NEW.

still needs headers, exhaust, glass, steering, interior, possibly fenders, paint...... another $2000 there abouts

so if you add all up what is there so far, PARTS at decent market value thats $5k before the body gets added in.

more than most of us would want to pay for that, but somewhere close to what he is asking, is where we would eventually end up scratch building it.

Well it don’t look like shit to me. Looks like some greasy big block pulled from the heart of some other rusty truck. It is pretty hard to tell from the lack of pictures. I guess it is not an unreasonable price per say. I can find many 454 for under a grand and it wouldn’t take many parts to bring the grand total to 2.5 kilobucks.

Yeah, I can’t tell, and it may very well be a stock heap ‘o shit from a 70s pickup, but who knows. 1k into a muncie is pretty normal if you pay for a rebuild.
